There are a variety of ways in which I help my clients and their families. You can rest assured that each therapy plan is individualized to meet your child’s needs.

Speech & Language Therapy
Speech & Language Therapy is treatment for children who exhibit speech and/or language-based communication disorders. Difficulties in communication can arise from a breakdown in different areas, including receptive language, expressive language, articulation, and/or oral sensory motor function.
The goal of speech and language therapy is to help children improve their communication and interactions.
- An articulation disorder means there’s a challenge with the actual production of speech sounds. This happens when a child doesn’t make speech sounds correctly.
- There are two types of language disorders.
- A receptive language disorder refers to the skills involved in understanding language. These disorders are characterized by children who often have difficulty processing, understanding, and/or retaining spoken language. Children with receptive language disorders often have difficulty following directions and answering questions.
- An expressive language disorder refers to the verbal skills required to communicate thoughts and feelings to others. Children often have difficulty with verbal expression and formulating their thoughts in a coherent manner. Their sentences are often incomplete, inverted, or confusing.
Sometimes children may exhibit a speech disorder in addition to a language disorder. I use a variety of techniques including PROMPT therapy, oral motor therapy, and traditional speech and language therapy to help your child learn to communicate effectively.

Feeding Therapy
Feeding Therapy helps children who have difficulty eating due to sensory motor and/or behavioral feeding challenges. These children may appear as picky or problem eaters. When feeding issues are addressed for children of all ages, nutritional concerns, growth concerns, unsafe swallowing, and future poor eating habits and attitudes can be prevented or eliminated. I use a variety of techniques for Feeding Therapy which may involve include sensory–motor therapy, the SOS approach, behavioral intervention, food chaining, or a combination of these approaches.

Parent Education
It is important that parents and/or caregivers take an active role in the therapy process. New skills learned with the therapist can be carried over into a child’s natural environment when they are practiced and strengthened at home.
Through purposeful conversation, and a variety of tools and techniques, I empower parents to gain clarity, set goals, and take action in helping their children throughout the Speech & Language and Feeding Therapy processes. We work together to solve problems and help your child excel in their natural environment. I am a Certified Life Coach and pull from my experiences to coach parents in both Group and Private Sessions.
